Study Description: | Three Watkins mapping populations, two with Robigius as a parent, one with Paragon, grown at two N levels, 50 (N1) and 200 (N2) kg n/ha. Populations were: PxW160, RxW145 and RxW181. Three replicates of each treatment. Excess plots sown with Crusoe. Population W160 had N2 grain and straw samples analysed by ICP, data entered as a seperate study. |

Growing conditions: | Growing conditions were reasonable, with good sowing and harvest dates. Medium amount of lodging, ie not severe but significant. |
Phenotype Gathering Notes: | Anthesis and maturity was only recorded for N2 plots Crop height has a corrected and uncorrected column. There is also a set of stubble heights data Awns were not assessed. Straw yield is corrected for stubble - heights were not measured on N1 treatment plots by ruler, so heights for all plots have been estimated from UAV imagery, 6 dates between 09/06 and 10/07. Only 2 plots were over 1.5 m on a pair of dates - ie i don't believe any plots were actually over 1.5m, so discarded all values over 1.5 . The maximum value of the six dates was then taken as the height, and the maximum as a percentage of the mean of the six replicates of each line calculated. Some plots were over 125% of the mean, and these were all checked, and erroneously high values removed. |
Physical samples collected: | Grain and straw samples were collected from all plots at final harvest, and are in storage. Samples from population WC160 were analysed by ICP. All samples were analysed by NIRS for N. 0-90cm soil samples were collected post-winter, analysed for mineral N and discarded. |
Data not included: | UAV NIR and RGB was collected weekly through the growing season. Details of statistical design not included. |
